The Other Family Vineyards

Starting in 1983, when he took over management of Domaine de Chevalier, Olivier Bernard and his team gradually introduced a winemaking philosophy revolving around balance. This guides every step of viticulture and winemaking, as does respecting the purity of the fruit and gentle extraction in keeping with the terroir and vintage character...

These basic principles are applied at all the estates acquired over the years by the Bernard family.
The next one was in 1993, ten years after Domaine de Chevalier when, several months after having been solicited by a religious community (the Sisters of the Holy Family), Olivier Bernard agreed to be the tenant farmer and winemaker at Domaine de la Solitude (Pessac-Léognan).

In 2009, in the same appellation, he also took over management and wine production at Château Lespault-Martillac when asked by the owner, who wanted to make the most of his vineyard. At the time, the estate was far from reaching its full potential, and needed much work.
Meanwhile, in 2006, Olivier Bernard, a lover of great white wines, made his first incursion into an appellation famous for its sweet white wines by becoming a shareholder in Château Guiraud a First Growth in the famous 1855 classification.

In 2011, thanks to this initial experience, Olivier undertook an ambitious project involving the production of a a great dry white wine named Clos des Lunes on terroir shared with the finest great growths of Sauternes.
